Hand Creation
The hand is a lot simpler than it first appears. It’s just a basic cube with points for the fingers and geometry added to create more of a shape.
As you can see here, the hand is well modelled with appropriate geometry. There is detail around each knuckle to add definition and articulation for when the model is rigged. There are finger nails on the model also. Although the hand is low poly it still has fantastic shape from the geometry. Compare this to a bad example:
Here is a bad example. There isn’t enough geometry to show detail or shape of the hand. The fingers also have no form. The modeller of this hand has not used a clear reference and has just created from his own head. This has resulted in messy geometry and bad form. This is what should be avoided.
